Scholarship Description

The Presidential Scholarship is Florida International University's most prestigious, merit-based award. For Florida residents, it covers 100% undergraduate tuition and fees, plus a book stipend. For non-residents, it offers merit-based tuition reduction. To be eligible, applicants must be a high school senior; have a 4.0 GPA; have either a 1370 SAT, an ACT of 30, or be in the top 5% of the graduating class; and be a citizen of the United States, a U.S. lawful permanent resident or an international student with intention of receiving the F-1 visa to study in the United States. Incoming freshman and transfer students can apply for several FIU and national merit scholarships. These scholarships are awarded for outstanding academic ability, demonstrated by your GPA, an essay, or other achievements. FIU recalculates GPA based on your courses taken. Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Dual Enrollment, AICE, and Honors courses are all taken into consideration in your FIU weighted GPA. FIU weighted GPA is used for Scholarships as well.

Applicants must have the scores sent directly to FIU when they register for the SAT or ACT so the scores can be received by the university in time for scholarship consideration. Visit FIU's scholarship page for the last ACT/SAT test dates that will be considered for the scholarship eligibility; all other supporting credentials and a completed application should already be received by the scholarship application deadline. Merit scholarships require yearly renewal to remain eligible. This renewal guide is specifically for the following scholarships. This scholarship has two deadlines, depending on whether the applicant is a resident of Florida or not.
