By pursuing a college degree, you're making an investment in yourself, your family and your future. We want to help. When you apply for admission to NIU as an incoming freshman or transfer student, you’ll automatically be considered for merit scholarships. These are awarded based on your high school GPA or on your transfer GPA. The NIU Presidential Scholars Program recognizes outstanding high school students for their hard work and academic accomplishments.
Eligible students are guaranteed a minimum merit scholarship (for up to four years) and have the opportunity to compete for a Presidential Scholarship. This competitive scholarship provides full tuition, fees and on-campus room and board, along with a book stipend, for up to four years. Approximately 10 students will receive this award each year. To be eligible, applicants must be incoming freshmen, have full-time enrollment, have domestic residency, and have at least a 3.8 GPA. Must maintain full-time enrollment and a 3.3 GPA for renewal.
