Scholarship Description

Established in 1955 by a Trust endowed by the late Aubrey Lee Brooks, these scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors from a 14-county area of North Carolina.

Scholarship Details

  • Up to $12,000 per year to be awarded
  • 17 scholarships available
  • Renewable annually, with continued financial need and academic progress
  • One-time $2,500 computer stipend

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a graduating high school senior and permanent resident of one of the following North Carolina counties: Alamance, Bertie, Caswell, Durham, Forsyth, Granville, Guilford, Orange, Person, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Swain, or Warren
  • Plan to enroll full-time as a degree-seeking student at N.C. State University, UNC-Chapel Hill, or UNC-Greensboro
  • Demonstrate financial need with a FAFSA Student Aid Index (SAI) not exceeding $12,000

Application Requirements

  1. Complete the electronic Aubrey Lee Brooks Scholarship application
  2. Submit an electronic copy of your academic transcript with final Fall semester grades
  3. Provide SAT and/or ACT score sheets
  4. Complete and submit the FAFSA for the applicable school year

Additional Information

  • Recipients are evaluated based on merit, leadership, character, and their commitment to becoming informed and useful citizens
  • To maintain the scholarship, recipients must demonstrate continued financial need, remain enrolled full-time at an eligible institution, maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA, and uphold good citizenship

The North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority provides central administration for the Brooks Foundation. This scholarship provides significant financial support and opportunities for personal and academic growth.
