  • Scholarship Description
  • The Native American Awards Internship falls within the Native American Awards Program which supports students, who are formally or informally affiliated with a Native American community or tribe, to visit the Institution to learn about research or other museum-related activities using its Native American-related resources.

    Internship Awards are available for students currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. Interns pursue projects supervised by Smithsonian staff members.

    Eligibility:
    -Students who are formally or informally affiliated with a Native American community or tribe
    -Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or in a graduate program
    -Must be interested in learning more about their academic and career goals as they relate to Native American resources

    Submission Materials:
    -Essays must be 2-4 pages, double spaced in 12 point type and must address the following three separate questions, which can be found at the scholarship provider's website.
    -Official transcripts
    -Resume
    -Two academic references

    -Deadline: February 1. For Summer (beginning after June 1) and Fall (beginning after October 1)
    -Deadline: October 1. For Spring (beginning after January 1)
