  • Scholarship Description
  • Our academic scholarships identify future leaders of the industry through a highly competitive application process. We provide up to 52 scholarships annually to students from the highest caliber of tourism and hospitality programs across the United States and Canada and award a total of $70,000 in scholarships.

    Tourism Cares Academic Scholarships are offered in three categories:

    Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarships:
    -Full or part-time student enrolled in a travel, tourism, or hospitality related program of study
    -Pursuing an associate's, bachelor's, or masters degree
    -Enrolled in the fall semester of a two or four-year college/university in the U.S. or Canada
    -Minimum 3.0 GPA

    Graduate Research Scholarships:
    -No citizenship requirements
    -Full or part-time student conducting graduate research in a travel or tourism related field
    -Enrolled in the fall semester at a four-year university in the U.S. or Canada
    -Minimum 3.0

    High School Scholarships:
    -Citizen or permanent resident in the U.S.
    -Senior who will successfully completing and Academy of Hospitality Tourism Program (AOHT) at their High School
    -Entering freshmen year in the fall semester at a two or four-year university in the U.S. or Canada
    -Minimum 3.0 GPA

University Student with Down Syndrome Rejected by Sororities

An accomplished student and athlete at George Mason University was not accepted to any sororities at the university. Her sister Lillie believes this is because she has Down syndrome.
