  • Scholarship Description
  • The Urban Scholarship Fund is for Texas residents who are also U.S. citizens, graduating high school seniors, new and/or returning college students attending any accredited non-profit public or independent two- or four-year college/university or technical school. Annual awards are $700 for community college, junior college, and technical college; $1,000 for public four-year college/university; and $2,000 for independent (private) four-year college or university. Funds are disbursed half each semester. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need and have graduated from a high school in the following metropolitan cities: Abilene, Amarillo, Arlington, Austin, Beaumont, Brownsville, Carrollton, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Denton, El Paso, Fort Worth, Frisco, Garland, Grand Prairie, Houston, Irving, Killeen, Laredo, Lubbock, McAllen, McKinney, Mesquite, Midland, Pasadena, Plano, San Antonio, Waco and Wichita Falls. I am a high school Senior attending Allen HS in Texas. I moved my Junior year from Crystal Lake, IL. I will be the first in my family to attend a 4 year college. I've recieved a scholarship from them while attending UTA you have to fill out the form add your transcript then they will choose from the top GPA's.GOOD LUCK!!!

Does it matter when you graduated? I graduated in 2001 from Dallas honors academy which is known now is Dallas Can! does that matter?

Protest at Johns Hopkins U Over Proposed Private Police Force

Student at Johns Hopkins University have staged a month-long sit-in at Garland Hall, JHU’s main administrative building, to protest the university's plans for a private police force, which was recently approved by the Maryland General Assembly. The university has had to suspend financial aid, disability, academic advising, and international services due to the protest's complete blockage. The protesting students are also demanding that JHU cancel its contracts with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and eight students even chained themselves to Garland Hall. [...]
