  • Scholarship Description
  • The PepsiCo Cesar Chavez Latino Scholarship Fund is awarding scholarships to students of Latino descent who are
    beginning or continuing their studies at a higher education institution. The fund provides financial assistance to
    qualified Latino/a students in an effort to promote academic success. PepsiCo Cesar Chavez Latino Scholarship
    Fund Recipients will be honored at the annual Si Se Puede Gala presented by the Cesar Chavez Foundation. Award
    recipients will be required to complete 30 hours of service to the Cesar Chavez Foundation within 12 months of
    award.

    Eligibility:
    -Applicant must be an incoming or continuing full-time undergraduate student at any education institution for the upcoming academic year
    -Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident, undocumented, DACA or eligible non-citizen (as defined by FAFSA)
    -Applicant may only receive award once
    -Applicant's immediate family members are not eligible for award within 12 calendar months (e.g. siblings, parents, or children)

"OK to Be White" Signs a "Sign of the Times"?

"It's okay to be white" signs were scattered on college campuses across the country, as well as in Canada over the past week. Reportedly, the signs were first suggested on an online chat forum called 4chan, calling on people to place posters in their area on Halloween night. At Harvard Law School, at least 20 handmade stickers with the message "It's ok to be white" were posted on light poles and electrical boxes. Harvard Law's Dean of Students Marcia Sells condemned the posters, stating the posters and stickers are "intended to divide us from one another" and that "HLS will not let that happen here." The Department of Public Works removed the stickers shortly thereafter. Even after they had been removed, the message continued to circulate via social media through hashtags and videos, gaining both condemnation and support. [...]
