In over a century, The Rhode Island Foundation has never received a donation expressly for scholarships as large as this one. The $12M gift that will endow the Robert G. and Joyce Andrew College Scholarship Fund is expected to generate enough income to provide approximately 100 scholarships per year, according to the foundation.

The fund will support students who can demonstrate financial need and are pursuing undergraduate study at a number of public and private colleges in Rhode Island. The scholarships will be renewable for up to three additional years and the average scholarship is estimated to be around $6,000 each, which would total approximately $24,000 over four years.

Applicants must be current high school seniors or have graduated from a Rhode Island high school (public, private or independent) within the last three years and must attend one of the following colleges:

  • Providence College
  • University of Rhode Island
  • Bryant University
  • Roger Williams University
  • Rhode Island College
  • Community College of Rhode Island
