Stewardship Sermon Scholarship

$1,000

April 04, 2020

Awards Available: 1

  • Scholarship Description
  • Several years ago, Stewardship Ministries was honored to receive a generous legacy gift. Stewardship chose to invest this gift into Christian education and religion students by awarding scholarships for excellent sermons about stewardship. We recognize that understanding the blessing and communicating the discipline of generosity is an important skill for ministers to attain. We challenge ministry students to write and submit a stewardship sermon in the hopes that they will learn to teach the blessing of generosity to their congregations.

The sermon should explore holiness as it relates to tithing and living generously, while addressing money as it relates to funding the mission of the Church of the Nazarene: “to make Christlike disciples in the nations.” All students enrolled in a religion or Christian education program at a Nazarene institution of higher education (including seminaries) in the USA or Canada are eligible. Sermons are judged through a blind process by a panel of judges that are appointed by the Director of Stewardship Ministries.

All winners will be announced in May. Payment is credited directly to each winner's student account balance unless other arrangements are necessary.
