The American Indian Nurse Scholarship Award Program was started to give students of American Indian descent the opportunity to pursue careers in nursing. To be eligible for a scholarship, the candidate must be: at least 1/4 Native American; a high school graduate or have equivalent education; enrolled in pre-nursing, nursing, or healthcare-related; recommended by their counselor, teacher, or other school official; not receiving an Indian Health Service Scholarship; and, should have a career goal directly related to the needs of the Indian people.
