Applicants for the BLK Men in Tech Trailblazers Scholarshipmust be currently enrolled as a Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior at a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) majoring in a technology-related field of study. According to the National Science Foundation, only 6.2% of 2016 US science and engineering bachelor’s program graduates were Black. Our community’s responsibility is to change this reality by dismantling common obstacles that can limit minority students in their personal, educational, and professional pursuits. The BLK Men in Tech Scholars program is designed to support the community in this effort by equipping future Black leaders with the resources they need to progress their education and establish a meaningful career.
Scholarship winners will receive a $1,000 Book Scholarship, mentorship from individuals in the technology space and gain access to exciting internship and employment opportunities. Recipients will be able to expand their networking capacity by engaging with new peers and exercise their skills by planning and implementing a community service project.
Application includes a letter of recommendation from current or former professor, a 3-minute (max) video responding to the following prompt: "Name the 3 characteristics that when combined makes you unique and how do you plan to use them to contributed society?"
