Our scholarships are awarded to honor Walter J. Travis, and his remarkable accomplishments and contributions in the game of golf. He was a pioneering champion amateur golfer, golf course architect, innovative turf grass expert, and prolific golf journalist.
The scholarships are awarded to students pursuing a career in one of the following professions: landscape design/golf course architecture, golf course turf-grass management/golf course superintendent, professional golf management, or sports journalism with a special interest in golf. In addition, outstanding amateur golfers are eligible to apply.
Applicants must be enrolled/matriculated as a full-time undergrad or graduate student at an accredited two- or four-year college/university. Applicants will be judged on their merits, i.e. academic record, involvement in golf-related interests, career goals, and extracurricular activities.
