The Wingman Foundation was started in 2014 by Marine Aviators who recognized the need to take care of our own. In the past, we have provided for the families of those involved in flying mishaps, combat or otherwise, by ad hoc fundraising, “passing around the hat” in our Ready Rooms, and leaning on other organizations for support. We plan to change that. In addition to helping families defray the costs associated with losing a loved one, The Wingman Foundation will offer merit and needs-based scholarship opportunities to the children of fallen aviators.
To be eligible for the Captain Jeff Kuss Aviation Scholarship, applicants must: be current Colorado residents; be at least 16 years of age, but no older than 25 years of age at the time of application; demonstrate financial need; provide quarterly grade reports; and, at the time of the application, be able to pass at least a third class FAA medical examination for flight training. This is renewable upon maintaining a 3.0 GPA. Dollar amounts will vary.
