I’m applying for this scholarship, I have been working extremely hard during my high school years, mantaning good grades in all my academic AP classes. My mom doesn’t work anymore since she got diagnosed with cancer in 2019 and got many more health issues including diabetes and hypertension, so we are all dependent on my dad. This scholarship will definitely help me and would be greatly appreciated.

This scholarship would be a great help to my family and me. I am a Senior in high school and I lost my dad to cancer back in 2018 my sophomore year. We have had many financial struggles since then and college is going to be an issue because of tuition. I am very involved at my school with a 3.7 GPA.

I'm very interested in applying for this scholarship. I'm a very active student within my community as well as keeping a high academic standing with a GPA within the 3.5-4.0 range. As a seventeen-year-old, I've experienced quite a lot of traumatic things such as my mother having cancer and my father being absent for the majority of my life. I believe this scholarship would be very beneficial to me.

I am extremely interested in applying for this scholarship. I volunteer for my church in leadership roles, I volunteered in my school to participate in social groups, while dealing with the death of my father. Through it all I have maintained a GPA of a 2.5-3.0.

I would appreciate the chance to have the ability to apply for this scholarship. I feel that even though I had the terrible misfortune of losing my Father to Colon Cancer when I was younger, I have still been able to excel Academically as well as in drama, bowling and theater.

Applying for this scholarship will give me greater resources to expand my involvement in my community to a a greater community at college. I am an extremely determined person with a lot of compassion for others. My mother was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer just days after my tenth birthday and has been fighting the same cancer for the past almost eight years . My mother’s strength to continue her fight every single day for the past eight years has showed me how to be a resilient and compassionate human being.

I would love to apply for this scholarship as I have been heavily involved in my community's performing arts, as well as show traits of leadership, compassion, and determination, all while dealing with a mother diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and a father diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer.

I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to apply to this scholarship as I feel that I contribute to my community through leadership despite having a mother who had cancer and an absent father.

University to Give New Students Free Laptops for Filing the FAFSA

April 6, 2021

by Izzy Hall

The coronavirus made laptops a necessity for college students. Where before students without personal computers or laptops could use on-campus computers and provided software to meet the technological needs of their courses, the shift last spring to online classes necessitated that students have a stable internet connection and a compatible device. While the majority of students were able to meet this requirement, according to a study by EDUCASE, some students found themselves without a modern laptop that could run the most up-to-date browser, use RAM-heavy software or keep up even with reliable high-speed Wi-Fi. One university has announced a unique remedy for this technical situation. [...]
