• The University of Montana Western Foundation exists to inspire generosity and connect donors with their passions in order to promote access and excellence in higher education at the University of Montana Western. The University of Montana Western Foundation is a non-profit, public 501 (c)(3) organization that advances the mission of the University of Montana Western by seeking and securing private support for its programs in service to students and society. Through our annual campaigns and initiatives, we help to provide for a margin of excellence that benefits students, faculty and the community.

  The University of Montana Western offers numerous scholarships. The UMW William S. Bender Scholarship was established by Albert & Ethel Bender in remembrance of their brother William. The William S. Bender Scholarship is awarded to a Montana student with leadership skills and high scholastic ability who excelled in extracurricular activities in high school.
